African Initiatives are a small Bristol-based International Development Charity supporting rights-based projects in Africa such as girls’ education, women’s rights, livelihoods and health education.
Working with partners in Africa to empower communities and demand their rights, their education programmes are dedicated to raising awareness, challenging injustice and promoting positive images of the developing world.
Having grown in strength over the years, they have built well established and successful relationships with a range of different partner organisations in Ghana and Tanzania. In the last year they helped change the lives of 132,373 people.
African Initiatives invite you to join them on Saturday 3rd September at the Arnolfini, Bristol for their screening of Girl Rising, a powerful and moving film that follows 9 girls in 9 different countries battling to get an education.
Arrival is 7pm for a glass of wine and a short talk on the inspirational stories of these brave girls. There will also be an auction to raise funds for African Initiatives and prizes include: signed Portishead albums and t-shirt, Swim and Dine for two at Clifton Lido, family foraging weekend and an exclusive print from an award-winning wildlife photographer.
Tickets can be purchased here for £8 each or £6 each if you buy 6 or more!
