Love it or hate it, there’s no avoiding this cold time of the year.  While some of us embrace the winter season and the festivities it brings, others dread six months of dark mornings and dank weather.

If you’re an avid Instagrammer, Pinner or an interior design lover it’s more than likely that you’ve recently noticed the word ‘Hygge’ and phrases like ‘How to Hygge’ or ‘Bring Hygge into your Home’.  This current, fashionable buzz-word derives from a Danish phrase (pronounced Hooga) that doesn’t translate directly into English but means creating a warm and cosy atmosphere through well-being and mindfulness, socialising, comfort food and simply taking time out to enjoy and appreciate the good things in life.

Anything that makes these cold and dark months more bearable sounds good to us so we’ve pulled together ten ways to bring Hygge into your life this winter, the ethical, vegan and cruelty free way.  If it works for the happiest nation in the world we’re willing to try it out!

1. Set the Lighting
Getting your lighting right will instantly create a warm and cosy atmosphere.  Lamps with a low wattage bulb, a string of fairy lights and a few candles will bring a comforting, natural and warm glow to the room.
